In 2008 our Board approved spending $3,000 on Micro Finance Loans through the Kiva Organization.
Our first loan was made on December 30, 2008 to the group of Bolivian women pictured above. This loan has been paid back. As money is paid back we re-loan it to another person or group. Our 2009-10 International Service Budget included another $3,000. In 2010-2011 we budgeted the same. We currently have $9,000 circulating the globe helping people start small, local businesses.
We now are participating in 145 loans and have loaned $12,350. The total amount repaid is $6,444. We have had 33 loans paid back. We have had zero defaults. You can see the details through the links on the left. Check out the Kiva world map and see how this far reaching program impacts the world.
