8/31/10 Meeting

Yesterday, 8/31, our guest speaker was Dr. Mel Schrier.  He spoke on the importance of doing comprehensive vision screening for young children.  Compared to the "standard" testing procedures that are currently used today for vision testing (ie. reading an eye chart from 20 feet), Dr. Mel Schrier's testing methodology is much more comprehensive and is capable of finding vision problems that may go unnoticed for years in a young child.
 

After standard meeting protocols were observed, there was an introduction of the guests: Governer Elect Mr. Brad Robinson, Guest Speaker Dr. Mel Schrier, Assistant District Governer Mr. Sam Pirnazar.

The President Gene Ho made some announcements.  There was a report for the temp. board meeting last Tuesday. The Fellowship Dinner report was made by Dr. Hong Il Kim.

Upcoming events mentioned were:

  1. The Literacy Breakfast on September 10, 2010 at Lawrey Restaurant in which the keynote speaker will be Diane Moseley, the 2010-2012 President of the Southern California Library Literacy Network.
  2. The District 5280 Picnic on September 12, 2010 at the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach.
Gene Ho also metioned the Koreatown Rotary Club Newsletter will be made by Roberto Cho, nephew of Dai Lee.

After Dinner, the meeting was resumed with an Auction by Dai Lee with the auction items contributed by Mr. Isaac Lee.  This was followed by the fun time of fines by Mr. Steven C. Kim.
