One reason the recidivism rate for crimes is high is because convicted persons usually have no place to go when they get out of prison.

Having served their time, and discharged their debt to society, there is often no job waiting for them, no family support.  Our speaker, the pastor at the Living Word in Lakewood, sees it as his mission to get these people back into society.

Living Word operates a mission shelter where these people have a place to stay after their release, for up to a year.  They have six months to get a job, and counseling and child care is offered.  After one year, they should be integrated back into society.
