In the same spirit of self-improvement, our second speaker for the afternoon, Steve Angel, gave us a short lesson in “drumming to read.”
It has been shown that the brain needs rhythm to conduct complex tasks, and drumming can dispel stress and anxiety. This creates an optimal learning state of enhanced calm and an ability to focus.
To demonstrate, Steve began a slow steady beat and encouraged his audience to join in. We followed his suggestion to close our eyes, and the room became a unified energy field. Then Steve slowed the beat until everyone was relaxed – a good state to begin to learn.
Rhythm is the current that runs through words. The Doubtful Internal Voice™ is the psychological and emotional barrier that impedes students’ ability to learn to read. We use a strong assertive rhythm that creates a pathway for focus and concentration, and thereby removes all doubtful voices.
Reading & Rhythm encompasses all the educational building blocks necessary for students to become excellent readers.
We need your help to get Reading & Rhythm into more school systems to help more students. Please donate today.
The Reading & Rhythm program brings back the joy of teaching for teachers AND the excitement of learning for students! “Now I feel smart” declares an LA-based middle school student. The merging of rhythm into the learning process helps transform negative energy into a positive force in the classroom.
