Hey Rotarians – it looks like we missed a few of you this week as the lunch crowd was a bit light. We started out with an invocation by Clint Ehlers, the pledge by Harold Hanslmair and the Pledge Song (beautifully sung) by Ann Murakami.

We did not have any visiting Rotarians but we were honored to have Culver City Police Chief Don Pederson have lunch with us as a guest of Tim Messmer who must be looking to get out of a ticket. With that, the Welcome Song was sung by Darlene Kiyan.

Announcements:

Rotary Rancho Park will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a party on November 18th. They have asked us to have a joint meeting with them which I believe will be under review with Pres. Roo.

Interact will be having their Youth Conference 10/25 and the Rotary District Breakfast will be November 10th. Most importantly, Clint's birthday is 10/22 - he is registered at Home Depot. If you forget the date, just ask Linda Black.

Carmela informed us that the District is looking to collect 15,000 lbs of candy by 10/28. Yes - 15,000 lbs, so bring all you can to our next lunch!

Tim reminded us about the upcoming Free Flu Shots and President Roo called Keith Jones out to remind us all about next week's very important lunch where the District Governor will be attending.

WE WANT A LARGE SHOWING SO PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING! And bring a guest as our Rotary Membership Drive is in full swing still!!! Team Stinkpots is finally on the run board with Tim knocking in one run by hitting a single with his guest Chief Don Pederson.

It was then time for fines at President Roo reached deep into his bag of tricks to fine:

-

Bob Thompson ($30) for attempting to go on vacation

-

Keith Jones ($35) for knocking his wife up with a little boy (due end of December!)

-

Bobby ($25) for being unaware of Rotary Baseball at lunch, and

-

Kathy ($25) for not talking our somewhat beloved marsupial leader out of becoming President. Not that he would listen or remember anyway!

With that, Tim Messmer introduced the day's speaker - Joe Ditzel - who told some jokes...

Cartwright ended the day with some wisdom and President Roo sent us home with a bang of the knife (apparently he has not found any of the 20+ gavels that he has).

Take care Rotarians!
