IT HAPPENED THIS WEEK

By Don Trepany

At 12:15 our own Captain Kangaroo got the meeting to order. Joe Davidson gave us the Invocation and Boom Boom Raack led us on

the Pledge. "The Star Spangled Banner" was led by Richard Marcus. We took a short break only it wasn't short enough, because during the break someone made off with Bill's gavel!! Cy Pierce (did he steal it?) introduced our lone visiting Rotarian, S P Andrade from the LAX/Lennox club. Carmen Portnoy had three guests: dentists Drs. Eskandari and Sandrich and risk consultant Daniel DeGravel. Clint Ehlers introduced his guest Joe Stevens. The Welcome Song was led by Richard Marcus.

Announcements were next and Dannie Cavanaugh led off informing us that we need people to write the Reciprocator. I like to write it because I can make fun of all of you especially our Mr. Magoo/Captain Kangaroo looking, Village People loving, hard fishing President (oh, that was fun!!!) - so see Dannie if you would like to have some fun. This Sunday, July 26 is the Club Assembly at Steve Davidson's Casa @ 11 AM and BYOBC. Rob Barber reminded us about the Fishing Trip from August 13 - 15 - get your $100 deposit to Rob (you can send it to his house). Ernie Garza told us to pick up our roster updates at the back table. John Cluff and Tim Messmer gave us some info on our Club's web site on Club Runner. John is the webmaster. Janet passed around some pictures of the school in Pune, India that we are helping with. Richard Marcus informed us that Rob Barber and Clint Ehlers will be the Song Leaders next week. Chris King announced that the Ecuador trip, a District event will be May 18 - 22, 2010. Linda Black was overlooked by Mr. Magoo at the beginning of the Announcements so she will bring up the rear today. She told us that at the back of the room every week there will be District news, so be sure to look for that.

With the end of announcements brings.... FINE TIME!!!!! Bill was ready for this and his first victim was Rob Barber and he got fined for never inviting Bill up to his fishing cabin - $40 Rob (for being smart). Next up was poor Bobby Matsuyama who went to Ogden, UT for a non-vacation to see his in-laws... another $40. Joe Davidson got fined $40 for wearing a Craig Ferre Surf King shirt (Craig didn't get fined?!?!...wimp!) Chris King got fined $40 (duh) for going to" Fiddler on the Roof" with no date despite Bill's help. It seems that Bill tried to help Chris find a date while Bill was attending a

Village People concert but Bill could not find any women there (that's weird there were mostly men at that concert...huh...) Fine time finally ended and Tim Messmer was called upon the introduce our program. Today it was the project team for the light rail line.

Have a great week Rotarians.
