By Phil Tangalakis

As our resident pianist, Steven Fry, played the theme song from Captain Kangaroo, our gavel challenged President Bill called the meeting to order. (Rev.) Joe Davidson invoked the Lord's spirit, with

Bob Thompson led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, pinch hitting for an absent Harold Hanslmair. A handshaking Joel Forman then led us in a Patriotic Song, "God Bless America."

Looking around the room, two glowing new parents, Clint and Christina, were proudly introducing their beautiful baby, Kaylee Parker, to our Club. Speaking about babies, Chris King, looked dapper in a double breasted suit.

Cy Pierce introduced Monty and Eric, visiting Rotarians; Lyn Caron introduced Ronnie Manzaneras, the new Managing Director of Rotary Plaza; Dannie Cavanugh introduced Amy Williams, a Documentary Film Director; Richard Marcus introduced Andrew, a District Executive from the Crescent Bay Council of Boy Scouts; and Buffy introduced some old friends, Glen and his seeing eye dog in training, Jack.

Christina Fields, with the assistance of Cy, led us in a hearty Welcome Song.

President Bill sadly announced the passing of Captain Steve Rankin of the Culver City Fire Department, and Dannie informed us that former member, Alan Cherko, is a new resident at Grandview Plaza.

Announcements: Prez. Elect, Linda Black, Dodger Night will be April 17, and will be a fund raiser for Polio Plus. An unsuspecting Prez Bill lost his last mini gavel as Linda Black walked away from the podium slipping the gavel out of sight. Captain Tim Messmer needs us all to rally behind our Club's efforts to bring another successful High School Track Meet to Culver City.

Fines: Of course, Clint was aptly fined $100.00 for introducing his new daughter to the Club. Rob Barber got popped for $25.00 for just being Rob; Richard Marcus was justly fined $25.00 for being an enthusiastic supporter of Prez. Bill; and Lyn Caron, Christina Fields, and Dannie Cavanaugh remained speechless as Prez Bill levied a $25.00 fine on each of them for being the quiet, low profile and efficient Rotarians.
