By Linda Black

Twelve meetings to go for our Captain, but who is counting? This 12th meeting was started off with our Invocation by Joe Davidson,

off the cuff but long and original. Paul Knoll led the Pledge and Richard Marcus did the Patriotic Song - Yankee Doodle.

Lots of guests. Joel Forman introduced his daughter Debbie with her friend Chloe and his granddaughter Sofia, all visiting from Sao Paulo. Also a welcome to Bruno Vavala and, one last recognition as a guest, Andrew Sisolak. Craig Ferre led our welcoming song for our honored guests. It was appreciated by all but the baby. I think we woke her up from her noon nap. Wonder if that would work on Ed Little?

e heard that one of our past long term members, David Robinson, lost everything he has in a fire. He was very lucky as he escaped injury. He is now staying with his daughter and you can reach him there.

Carmela Raack gave us our District Conference update while Linda Black announced that we will be hosting our First Annual Chili Cook-off at the Fiesta La Ballona in August.

Craig Ferre states that we should have our picks for the international exchange finalized by the end of the month. Ann Murakami will be running May 15 and thanks us all for our pledges. Darlene Kiyan's daughter has been our little cheerleader at our annual USC/UCLA lunch every year. She is raising funds for her PTA and passed a little sign-up sheet to help her PTA in Culver City.

Kathy Haworth told us all to save June 26th to see our Captain walk the plank at his demotion. More details to come.

Paul Knoll inducted our newest member, Scout Executive, Andrew Sisolak. We are very happy and proud to have Andrew join our CCRC family. Richard Marcus is his sponsor. Welcome Andrew!!

Linda Black passed out a pledge letter for all members. It asked you to state your contribution limits for next year and more important, it

listed all of the planned projects for next year. Please review the projects and let her know which project you would like to support.

We enjoyed an excellent program with everything you'd ever want to know about the terrific work done by our own Culver City Fire Department given by Assistant Fire Chief Dave White. We are very lucky to have one of the top rated fire departments in the nation! They are another reason why Culver City is such a wonderful place to live.

Words of wisdom were shared by our own Cartwright Sheppard. With that, our Captain adjourned our meeting with only 11 to go!

Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is just around the corner -- May 15, I believe. Last year I chaired the event for our club and participated in the Relay, representing our club. I will be honored to do it again this year and I ask for your sponsorship to support this fine organization. And I will welcome anyone who wants to walk as well -- last year we had several members walking and we had a nice time. Chris

King will be organizing the Interact and Rotoract clubs in this event and we hope to join them to form a great Relay Team!! I thank you in advance for your sponsorship and participation. I will be contacting you at our meetings, or, you can also email me with your pledge -- any amount will be most welcome.

My email address is annmiya@hotmail.com. Or you can also call me with a pledge 310-717-6641. THANK YOU TO ALL!!! Ann Murakami
