20161203 Our Christmas Spectacular
Our Showtime Cabaret Event was a huge success!!!
Our District Governor Greg O'Brien and his lovely wife Carolyn got to witness first hand some of us just being...well, us.

Just look at Dougie Baby with his girls.

Or how bout' Steve dippin' in?

They even tried to fool me into thinking I could double as Sonny?!?

Well, check the photo album for more and thank you all for your warm,  friendly, and wonderful support.

December 8, 2016 Meeting
Sebastian Cetina had us going today. What a FUN meeting!
Sebastian's super stand up comedy was spot-on.  He was very funny and engaging.  Many of us want to use him for events in the future.  Thanks Judy for bringing him to entertain us so well.

December 1, 2016 Meeting
Today Erika Cardenas from Farmers Insurance enlightened us.
Erika was fresh and informative.  She told us about the many areas of focus she and her husband have with the Farmers Group.  We learned some new things and our questions were smartly answered.  She was enthusiastic about Rotary and it's many activities.  I think she asked more questions than we did.

 Love it!

November 18, 2016 VTL Glasses @ Ernie Pyle & Frank E. Woodruff
Today we distributed glasses at Ernie Pyle and
Frank E. Woodruff Schools while presenting a
check to Vision To Learn.
Yes, we did it.  Raising all the money for the seven high
Title 1 schools in Bellflower to receive all the glasses they
needed.  Today's two represented the fourth and fifth
schools with the sixth and seventh to be distributed in
December and January.  After our pre-screening, VTL
is still conducting screenings at Bellflower Middle/High
School.  We expect to finish distributing glasses by
the end of January.

November 17, 2016 Meeting
Our speaker today was Director of the
Amarok Society - Gem Munro.
Mr. Munro shared with us their Motto: "Teach A Mother, Change The World".  Based out of Canada, they are working in Bangladesh to help stop radical Muslims that are funded by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait while ISIS actively recruits uneducated young men.  Bangladesh is a country just a little larger than Pennsylvania with a population of 160 mil.  That is half of the USA's 320 mil.

They teach a mother who must then go home and teach five others.  They must begin by showing them, with a vocabulary of only 500 words,
how to hold a pencil.  They teach the illiterate English and math in only seven months.  As they gain confidence, life starts to make sense.  Hope springs up as they begin to dream for the first time.  This new-found confidence helps them to get out of the slum and get work or even start a business.

OMG!!!

November 10, 2016 Meeting With Los Mochis Rotary
A wonderful lunch with Our Sister Club -
Rotary Club of Los Mochis.
We met at Johnny Rebs in Bellflower for a great lunch and fellowship with our sister club: Club Rotario de Los Mochis.

In 1959 we joined in fellowship with The Rotary Club of Los Mochis, adopting them as our sister club.  Shortly afterword the City of Bellflower to adopted them as their Sister City.

We enjoyed hosting them this year with some members sharing their homes with them as they do with us in Sinaloa.  There was shopping, eating, and hot spots to take them around Southern California.

Everyone had a great time.!
