Also on this day in 1831, Victor Hugo finishes 
writing Notre Dame de Paris, also known as
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  Distracted
by other projects, Hugo had continually postponed
his deadlines for delivering the book to his
publishers.  Once he sat down to write it, he
completed the novel in only four month. 
 
Kim King from H&H Nursery spoke to us about drought resistant plants that are indigenous to California and how to care for them.  She brought many samples explaining how birds, animals, and Native Americans were dependent on these plants for many things.  She also brought special soil amendment fungus that adheres to the roots and helps them grow.  With the drought we are faced with, and an average sized lawn using 65% of the water on an average households water bill, many people are exploring options like these.
