Today we had a tie to cut.  Dave thought a "Blast from the past would be uplifting."
Our speaker was Joe Taylor.  Joe is a retired music teacher.  He enjoyed orchestras where he and his students could branch out and shine.  He just finished backing up Natalie Cole at the Hollywood Bowl.
The Golf Tournament has a Painting valued at $800, Cleveland Clubs and Drivers valued at $850, and could use more donations.

8/22/2013
The Honorable Sherri Sobel, Retired was our speaker today.  She was an Attorney for fourteen years and a Judge in the area of Dependency for sixteen years.  I hope we all were shocked at the twenty-nine thousand kids in the Los Angeles County System.  She still works with CASA and other agencies helping kids get on the right tract.  We should offer our two hands and feet as we can to help.

Rick Mendoza is our Regional Foundation Assistant and past District Governor.  He spoke to us today about dire need to finish the fight ridding the world of Polio!  He suggested that we ask the city to declare October 24th to be "National Polio Immunization Day."  Remember...We are THIS CLOSE!

We got our "The Rotary Foundation" Raffle Tickets today.  Remember to go online to get the form to direct the money to "Polio Plus" as this does not happen automatically.  We should get our best wishes and prayers out to Doug Baker's Wife Connie who has stage 4 brain cancer.
If we want a block of tickets to The Magic of Christmas Show at La Mirada Theater, now is the time.  Row S is still available to the Sunday December 15th show at 2 pm.
Don Cochran from the Long Beach Rotary Club spoke to us about his success and failures in starting up Interact Clubs.  He gave us some good tips to get us moving.
