Part of the mandate of every Rotary Club involves an international service component.

This Club has done exceedingly well this year in supporting a number of international projects in partnership with Rotary District 5050, our local YMCA, the Rotary Club in Bahir Dar, the Redding, California Rotary Club, the Alliance for Smiles, and Rotary International, as well as two on our own initiative.

Some other projects we have been involved with:

  • Construction of a computer lab in Ghana
  • Shelter-boxes to Haiti in the wake of the earthquake disaster
  • Construction of a girls school in Jalalabad, Afghanistan (Canadian Rotary Centennial Project)
  • Alliance for smiles: Reconstructive facial surgery for children with cleft palates in China
  • Ghana water project
  • Delivery of used fitness equipment to the YMCA in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia
We are very proud of our ability as Chilliwack Rotarians working together to assist not only our local community with those projects we are all familiar with, but to assist those people who live in our larger World Community as well.

This does not happen by itself, but only becomes a reality through the sustained efforts of Rotarians who are committed to action in making the world a better place to live
