Maria is a 21 year old Rotary sponsored business major at Irkutsk State University, which is near Lake Baikal, Siberia, Russia. Maria will be hosted by our club from July 5 to July 19, 2019 for a "watch and learn" business/work internship. Maria will be available for work experiences during the weeks of July 8-12 and July 15-19. Her goals in her own words are: I am currently majoring in management at Irkutsk State University, Baikal International Business School, Russia. I am a fourth–year student who is looking forward to getting some valuable international experience in the field of management, marketing, and finance. I'm also interested in logistics, foreign languages, leadership, and American culture. My participation in a wide variety of volunteering and community service projects through Rotary will give me that further booster that I need to advance my business career.
Maria was selected to participate in this program by her University's professors. The goals of the "Watch and Learn" internship program (in the program's description) are threefold:
I know you are asking what can she do in my business? She can job shadow someone or you can put her to work. Maria’s skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Corel, Gimp, Photoshop. She is fluent in English and has great social skills. Consider the possibilities. When was the last time you upgraded your mailing lists, contacted your clients with a new offer or just to keep in touch with them, updated your facebook page or web site, inventoried that back room, etc. This is a wonderful opportunity to show and teach your business practices to a young person from Russia who is eager to learn and has a career ahead of her.
You have an opportunity to work on a wonderful project sponsored by our Rotary Club. You can also offer to host Maria in your home or include her in an activity. She would also like to assist with any volunteer work that any of us do for our club, or for other organizations. She will be here July 5-19. I hope you will consider participating in this project.
