Find out about what is going on at our very own Eagle River Nature Center

We had 2 visitors today: Craig Bledsoe with Anchorage East and Carl Lundgren the Chairman of the Eagle River Nature Center, our guest speaker.

Brad led the meeting today and there were several announcements:
-Our December 3 meeting will be a Membership Meeting. Brad is organizing it and would like everyone to invite a guest to learn more about Rotary. We keep talking about how we need our club to be bigger - this is how we can do it.

-Foundation Fundraiser Nov. 14 at the Petroleum Club. Guest speaker will be Rick King, past president of RI and a great speaker. Tickets are $30.

-The valley is also have a Foundation Fundraiser on NovXXXXX at Evangelos. Tickets are $40.

-Rotarian Steve Parker and his wife Heather have a new baby boy. This is either their 5th or 6th child!

- Today we finished off the Most Improved Student lunches for the first quarter. Thanks to Mary Ann and everyone else who helped with them.

-Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on Friday, December 4. Please sign up to be a reindeer handler or a torch carrier to light the reindeer's way.

-Gruening would like us to do Choices at their school on November 16 & 17. Please let Brad know if you are interested in participating in that.

-Eric announced that on the 12th and 19th he will be collecting food and money for our thanksgiving basket for a needy family, so please bring either food to donate or money.

Carl Lundgren, Chairman for the ER Nature Center gave a great presentation on what is going on up there. Some of the programs that they have are a Hiking & Outdoor Series, Adult Nature Programs, Nature Photography, Astronomy Series, Naturalist Program and their Knee-High Naturalist Program.

They also rent snowshoes and have 10 miles of groomed ski trails, along with cabin and yurt rentals.

They have been so successful in drawing people to the Nature Center that they need a bigger building and a lot more parking. They are currently looking at several different options as to where they should relocate to and expect by early next year they will have made some more progress in that decision.

I won a whole $6 in split the pot!
