Sept 10 Meeting

Guests:  Assist. DG Jack & Kathy Timm with the Susitna Club and DG Bill Hopper joined us today.  Today was Steve Parker's last day as a guest.  Also we got to meet our exchange student, Katja Hansen.

Martin led the meeting today for the first time since returning from his sabbatical.  He introduced our exchange student from Denmark, Katja Hansen, who has already been here for almost a month.  Her English is very good and she told us some things about herself.  She has been added to the latest roster, so if you have a fun activity that you think she might enjoy call her at 854-5997.  Her email address is katjadh@live.dk

Announcements:

• Garage Sale:  Karla was here this week to talk about the Garage Sale next week.  Our meeting next week on the 17th will be at Joy Lutheran Church since we will be setting up for the garage sale then.  Bring all of you items to the meeting or after the meeting.  Lunch will not be provided, so bring your own.  Karla is still looking for helpers to work the cash box on Saturday.
• Martin and Tonya are working on planning a fireside to kick off Martin's presidency.  We are thinking an Oktoberfest party would be fun.  A Friday night date will be announced soon.  If you are interested in hosting, please let one of us know.

Steve Parker was inducted into the club today.  He is a family physician at Capstone Family Medicine.  Brad Gamble is his sponsor.  Please welcome Steve into the club the next time you see him.

DG Bill Hopper was our guest speaker today.  He spoke about this year's theme "The future of Rotary is in your hands" and what that means to all of us.  He also talked about how RI President John Kenny is working on a strategic plan for Rotary and the progress that is being made on Polio.

Bobby won split the pot this week- a huge $21 take which he donated back to the club.
