See what happened this week...

Visitors:  Kate Frederick, our outgoing exchange student attended the meeting along with her sister.  Ernie Brandt, who was Pete's guest, came to listen to the guest speaker, he used to work at the Nike Site as well.

Happy Buck Highlights:  We seemed to have a theme for happy bucks this week that focused on Gracjan and how happy our club was to have hosted him.

Guest SpeakerGreg Durocher with the Nike Site Vets spoke to us today and gave us a brief history of the Nike Sites in Anchorage and the goals that his group has to preserve the Nike Site.  He had lots of interesting stories.

Gracjan's Party:  Since today was Gracjan's last meeting (he leaves early on July 2) we had a cake and an Aces jersey for him to celebrate his exchange.  This is the first time we have seen him since his West Coast Tour.  He reported to us that he had a great time on the trip, made lots of new friends, and took 5000, yes 5,000 pictures on his trip.

Lots of Important Announcements This Week:

  • Get your I-did-a-duck prizes in to Martha.  We usually have about 40 and we are still a long ways from that.
  • Time slots to sell duck tickets at Walmart this weekend are still open.  Contact Kathy to sign up.
  • Rotary year ends June 30, if you haven't contributed your $100 to the Rotary Foundation this year, it is not too late.  Go to www.rotary.org and then click on Member Access.
  • The board passed a preliminary budget at the meeting Tuesday night, it is posted on the club website under Admin > My ClubRunner > View Club Documents.
  • We are going to try to reinstitute small fines - nothing outrageous, so be on your best behavior.
  • June is fellowhip month, so Pete suggested a once a month Happy Hour in Eagle River for fellowship and recruiting.  Anyone interested, let Pete know.
  • Jim Palmer is trying to organize a Rotary golf outing.  Let him know if you are interested.

Split the PotPete won $13 big ones today.

Next week's meeting: Sue Ellen Novak with the Alaska Veterans Memorial Museum is going to bring some very cool items for us to see.
