What a great meeting, see what you missed...

We had a small group today, just 14 of us, but it was a fascinating meeting.  Our guest speaker was Suellyn Novak, USAF, Ret. who gave us a great feel for how the American Revolutionary War soldiers lived and fought during the war.  She came in her soldier regalia appropriate for the time and brought guns, bayonets, and other very cool accessories that the soldiers had at the time.  It was very fascinating and of course appropriate given the 4th of July weekend.

Suellyn Novak is with the Alaska Veterans Museum and they have an upcoming fundraiser during Bear Paw here at Joy Lutheran Church.  Wednesday, July 8th from 5-8pm they are having a spaghetti feed.  We went last year and it was delicious, just $7.50 for adults.

Today Doug presented the club with a large hard vinyl Rotary wheel that he had made for the club's use.  It should come in very handy during I-did-a-duck time.  Thanks Doug!

Annoucements:

  • Last day to turn in prizes is next Thursday.  Get them to Martha or contact her to let them know they are coming by Thursday.
  • Jake has been moved to a recovery center in Anchorage called St. Elias and is reported to be doing better.  Now that he is no longer in ICU we can send a card and flowers.  Bobby will take care of this.
  • We need 2 Rotarians to participate in the Slippery Salmon Olympics during Bear Paw.
  • Sign-up to work the booth and parada at Bear Paw.  Email Kathy at KEhrhart@anthc.org
  • Bear Paw luncheon is next Wednesday, lots of fun and a good chance to sell duck tickets.
  • Kathy is looking for people to sell next week on Tues, Wed or Thurs night.  Let her know if you can.
  • Brad is working on the train to get it ready for the parade.  If anyone has any roofing materials, the train could use it, let Brad know.

One more fun activity to consider:  Owen announced that the Boy Scouts are hosting a clay pigeon shoot fundraiser on August 13 at Grouse Ridge.  Contact Owen at owen@bsamail.org for more info.

Keep selling those duck tickets - we still have quite a ways to go, but it will be over soon.

Split the Pot:   Doug won $7 in split the pot today!

Next Week:   Don't miss Representative Nancy Dahlstrom, this should be a good meeting to invite a guest.
