Internal Meeting this week...

Whew, with Bear Paw over the meeting started with Brad thanking everyone who was involved with the I-Did-A-Duck Fundraiser.  It was a success this year with total sales being $14,845.50.  The board had budgeted for $12,000 last month in preparation for a decrease, so an almost $15k year was exciting.

Happy Buck Highlight:  Our newest member, Owen Stribling, sponsored by Pete Mulcahy, announced that he proposed to his girlfriend this weekend and she said yes.  Congratulations Owen!

Annoucements:

  • Bobby Jefts gave us an update on Jake:  Bobby got to see him when he delivered the flowers and card that we had all signed the previous week.  He said that Jake was alert and showing signs of his old sense of humor.  He was pleased with the "fancy" card that we had got him.
  • Our whole club has been invited to a Brazilian Rotoplast Send-off Fireside in the Wasilla home of Kaye and John Zwiacher.  It will be on Friday on July 24, from 7:30-10:30pm.  Brad Gamble and Debbie Bushnell (Eric's wife) will be going on the mission from our club.

Most of the meeting was spent discussing I-Did-A-Duck and ways to improve it.  I am going to try to put together an I-Did-A-Duck guideline booklet so that we don't have to reinvent the wheel every year with a new chairperson.

Brad spoke about membership:  Next month is membership month and Brad has been working on a membership development plan and will be putting together a membership committee.  He would like to put together an evening membership event in late August or September where we all invite a possible member to attend for them to learn about Eagle River Rotary and the good things that we are doing in our community.

Next week's guest speaker will be Dave Gomez, Executive Director of the Armed Services YMCA.  We will be presenting him with a check for $1000.
