April 22 Meeting

Good turnout today to hear gubenatorial candidate Ralph Samuels
Several visitors today: Ralph Samuels, Joe Riggs with the Ralph Samuels campaign, Chris Tomsen and Dr. Jim Halliday. Rotarian guests: Dr. Jim Arneson from the Kodiak Club and Don Black.
Even before Pete opened the meeting the snowstorm began outside. It was really coming down when we welcomed Mary Ann Paul back from sunny Arizona. She has already been hard at work, having completed 2 Most Improved Student Luncheons last week at ERHS and MLMS. She thanked Martha, Martin, new member Brad Boedecker and Chris Tomsen for helping her with those.
Doug scheduled road clean-up for May 8 at 10am in the Eagle River UAA parking lot. Mark your calendars! We will have a breakfast fireside before the clean-up at Piccolino's at 8:45am. They have begun serving breakfast so we thought we would check them out.
Martha is still working on scheduling interviews at CHS for 9:30am to 10:25 and 11:10 to 12:05 on May 4th and 5th. Let her know if you are available to interview.
Guest Speaker Ralph Samuels spoke about what he will focus on if he is elected governor. He worries that our current leaders are not looking far enough into the future as they create their budgets now because he thinks that the current budgets are not sustainable. He is a strong supporter of the bullet line to Southcentral Alaska. I hesitate to write more as I don't want to misrepresent his views.
Split the Pot: It was a big one today - Meg won $20!
