An Hypnotic Meeting: Feb 11
This is a week late getting posted, but I absolutely had to write something so that there would be some documentation!
Jay Her, who is a professional hypnotist was our guest speaker. We had a great turnout for the meeting because Pete had done a good job getting the word out and trying to round up some volunteers before the meeting.Â
Jay began by giving a brief history of hypnosis and from that led us into a few exercises to see who would be good candidates for hypnosis. From that, he rounded up 5 victims to come up front: Pete, Brad, Don Black (who was in from Fairbanks), Debra and me. He gave us a few short exercises to do and it was amazing how in about a minute or two Pete and Debra were hypnotized!! Brad said that he was for about a minute too, but then somehow he snapped out of it. Jay sent me, Don, Brad back to our seats and he focused on Pete and Debra.
What an amazing thing. He would "wake up" Pete and Debra and suggest something to them and they would do it. For instance, he told them that they were watching a funny movie and they began to smile, then he told them it was 10 times funnier, and then 10 times funnier. You could see them laugh more and more, it was amazing! Then all of a sudden he switched them to watching a sad movie and their faces immediately turned serious. Then he would put them back to sleep and they would close their eyes again.Â
Every time he would "wake" them up, I would wonder if they had truly woken up from the hypnosis, but then he would put them back to sleep and their eyes would close. It was amazing. I don't want to embarass them at all - I am just so impressed with the power of hypnosis.
This was truly a meeting that we will all remember for a long time. Thank you to Pete and Debra for being willing and sleepy enough that day to participate!
