Outdoor Food Distribution at Community Food Bank

Food distribution is now taking place outdoors at our Country Club warehouse: 3003 S. Country Club Road, Tucson, AZ.

The Community Food Bank needs volunteer leads to help distribute shelf-stable and fresh groceries to families and seniors in our community! Volunteers will assist with loading product into client cars, and do other tasks related to feeding our community at our drive-through distributions.

For a safe and fulfilling volunteer experience, volunteers must complete safety trainings, and should feel comfortable working outside for the duration of the shift in variable temperatures, and be able to perform physical work (more below).

Be sure to look at our COVID-19 updates and recommendations before volunteering, and go to the qualifications page of your account to complete necessary trainings.

Dress code: Read dress code requirements below for volunteering! Please be aware that failure to follow the dress code may result in dismissal from volunteer activity.

  • Face mask that covers the nose and mouth (please bring your own)
  • Comfortable, closed-toe and closed-heel shoes
  • Sun, weather, and food-safe clothing
    • Shirts must cover armpits, abdomen, and chest (no tank tops)
    • Shorts should not be too tight or short
    • No sandals
  • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are advised
  • If you would like to wear gloves during distribution, please bring your own gloves

Safety Requirements: All volunteers must be aware of and uphold the safety expectations below in order to volunteer. Note: no lockers for storing personal items are available -- please leave them in your vehicle or at home.

  • Face masks are mandatory during your shift
  • Volunteers must maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and others to ensure safe social distancing practices
  • Regularly wash/sanitize your hands before, during, and after your shift (including breaks) (hand sanitizer will be available for use)
  • Volunteers will observe low-contact distribution practices to prevent harm and viral spread to self and others
  • Drink plenty of water to stay cool and hydrated
  • Volunteers agree that they feel safe and are able to perform essential tasks, including...
    • Standing for long periods of time
    • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs from the ground or over the head
    • Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, and walk
  • No use of cell phones, iPods, headphones, etc. during shift
  • For food safety, do not chew gum or smoke while volunteering
  • No food or glass is permitted in the distribution area
  • Volunteers who feel sick or who have come in close contact with a sick person should NOT volunteer for at least 14 days after symptoms are gone or after close contact.
  • We advise volunteers take their temperatures prior to volunteering. A thermometer will be available on-site.

NOTE that, on occasion, distribution times may extend past the allotted time or end early. If it extends, due to a large volume of clients, we ask that you stay to assist completion of all clients in distribution. Thank you for your flexibility!

PARKING MAP & DIRECTIONS

Volunteer_Parking_Map_20210111

  1. I have attached a parking map. Please approach from the NORTH on Country Club moving SOUTH to the entrance gate at our country club location, 3003 S. Country Club Rd. That is, do not move north from Ajo on Country Club. Come south from 36th or Country Club (arrows in the image indicate this pattern of movement).
    1. We are asking this because we are the client line for our food distribution will stretch south along Country Club road (that is, towards Ajo). If you approach from the south moving north, you will get caught in the client line - and I have no idea what to do in that case save for you to turn around and approach from another direction.
  2. You will come through a middle gate to park in the designated area on the attached picture, labeled "Park". The gate should be opened. We will have a check-in station set up similar to what we were doing at Kino somewhere in that area. We will do an orientation.
