Saving the Environment by Focusing on People

Blue Star Recyclers calls itself a 501c3 Social Enterprise. By that they mean that they work to keep revenue local and minimize taxpayer funding by training and paying their disabled employees in meaningful employment. Buffalo Grove plant manager Raul Guzman spoke to the club about how people with disabilities, including those on the autism scale, are able to work at Blue Star and provide valuable community service by ethically recycling electronics, all within the United States. The company began in Colorado and has been growing, in part with the help of some local Rotarians. The Buffalo Grove location will accept individual drop-offs of computers, tablets and other equipment, many without any cost, at 1387 Barclay Blvd. or Mr. Guzman would be happy to help to arrange a recycling event.
