The Reverend Doctor John Alan Boryk grew up in a world where a black man could not shake hands with a white man, where there were segregated schools, restrooms, and entrances to public places.  He was taught to be a bigot in high school, and learned racist chants at football games.  Then, in March of 1965, he received an invitation to hear Martin Luther King Jr. at Orchestra Hall in Chicago.  For the first time, he shook a black man’s hand.  The next week he boarded a bus to Selma to join the March to Montgomery.

Join us on July 8th at 7PM, when Park Ridge Rotarian John Alan Boryk tells the story of the epiphany that changed his life and committed him to a crusade for social justice.
