Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates

The Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates is committed selecting projects and activities that will impact senior wellbeing, literacy, and area poverty at all ages. We endeavor to be responsive to the changing needs of our community and to work the village officials, community leaders and organizations that share this commitment.

One of our core values is education:
—  We annually provide over $30,000 in direct scholarships! Both adults and youth were eligible.
—  Started a partnership with Harper College to provide $35,000 funding for students (adult age 24+) seeking something better for themselves and their families.
—  Established an emergency fund for grants for adult college students for financially at risk college students to stay in school.
—  Taught life skills and provided recreation to intellectually challenged children and adults.
—  Hands on equipment, computers, TV, and work stations were donated to developmentally delayed adults so they could learn of skill that could help provide employment.

We also combat hunger, poverty and disabilities with the following projects:
—  Helped 70-100 seniors per month who might be alone by providing lunch, mentoring and a social connection with our funding and volunteers.
—  Collected and distributed 400 winter coats to children whose parents could not afford them.
—  Fought hunger in our community with the creation of 3 food pantries serving dozens of families in school Districts 54 and D211.
—  Introduced and funded Blessings in a Backpack at 3 high schools providing food to over 100 children who may have nothing to eat over the weekend.
—  Giving children the opportunity to heal from trauma by providing funding for trauma and intervention services.
—  Sponsor a full year of breakfast for an entire middle school through Food 4 Thought in partnership with School District 54.
—  Fostered relationship by connecting donors to organizations such as a local bakery to make food donations( and we provide weekly food deliveries) to an emergency shelter, Whole Foods to the high schools for Blessings in a Back Pack,  and a restaurant to provide a greatly reduced meal for a Christmas gathering for Veterans at Trickster Art Gallery.
—  Provide hundreds of meals annually to at risk area senior adults through Meals on Wheels.
—  In partnership with Shop With a Cop and the POC provided holiday gifts and food to dozens of low income families in the Schaumburg township.

Another core value is being responsive:
—  Domestic violence victims are provided direct services and care at the local shelter because of the support of the Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates.
—  Strengthen the community from the inside by launching the Fishing Well Program with a multipronged approach to academic success. The program retrains people 24 years and older, provides mentoring and hopefully jobs to lift their families and individuals out of poverty. It takes a community to help these groups.
—  Provided funding for the purchase of a special needs bus to transport disabled adults and children from their homes to service centers to have outstanding opportunities through recreation.
—  Families of children with Down’s syndrome who needed services didn’t have to worry about how they were going to pay.
