Imagine it’s 2028

Our District 6440 Visioning™ event took place this past Saturday, from 8 AM to 3:30 PM at Rieke Interiors located Elgin. Rieke Interiors is an amazing office furniture organization – where they design, build and install workplace environments. Mike Warren on staff there is a Rotarian, whose club often meets in their creative facility. The event included the Governor line and Rotarians from across our District.

Here is some background on how it worked:
Rotary International Vision and Action Plan plus Club Models:  The Rotary International Vision and Action Plan document outlines Rotary’s direction and Action Plan priority initiatives. Rotary International created an updated Vision Statement and four Strategic Priorities to focus on how to grow Rotary. Information about different Rotary Club Models was included as we reimagined our Rotary District.

District Vision Exercise completed before the event: A District Vision outlines a shared direction and consensus on priorities. To help create our District Vision, we're asking you to complete the attached District Vision Exercise with your ideas for District 6440 and how the District looks 3 years in the future.

This District Vision writing exercise took about 30 minutes to complete and we all brought our ideas along. The exercise questions lead us through different aspects of the District and how it operates in the future. It was suggested we write our ideas as "sound bites" or 3-6 word bullet points (not as easy as you think!!).  Everyone's ideas from the District Vision Exercise will be extracted/scribed during the District Visioning event.

Afterward we all discussed how we would execute the ideas that included our goals to Adapt; Reach; Impact; Engage; manage Club Growth and what our district would look like in 2028. One key take-away was that this initiative had to have an action plan, accountability and benchmarks for results. It was a great day!

Rotary Clubs can have club-based Visioning sessions, too. (The District team is looking for Visioning volunteers!!)

Shout out to Thor Davidson, District Governor; Marlene Frisbie, Governor Elect; Rick Reigner, Governor Nominee and Mary Bak, Immediate Past District Governor who led the event for the district.
