Hi everyone! I hope you had nice Christmas/Hanukkah. I am happy to report stunning results from Week 6.
We know Week 5 was a huge haul at 131. Week 6 yielded 254 winter coats, and still counting. We ran out of boxes and there are probably 50 more coats on tables . . . and I have a car full of our barrel pickup. The total number of winter coats collected so far is 741, and we should surpass 800.
First some “thank you” notes: Debbie/Gary/John/Brian/Elke thank you so much for doing all the pickups. Most of the coats came from Northbrook with maybe 150 from Glenview, so almost everything passed through your cars the past 6 weeks! Sandy and Kathi, thanks so much for the various message to the club and within the Northbrook community.
I will thank the Glenview Noon club and my Glenview Sunrise club separately. Glenview Noon Rotarians were the primary sorters the past 6 weeks. Half a dozen members participated actively, which is around half their club. Glenview Sunrise had two-barrel collectors and a couple people making connections in the community (and me!!).

We want to thank Rick Rosenfeld for his amazing ability to coordinate and collaborate to produce an amazing coat drive.
In his 2nd year – Rick has proven the importance of being able to pivot in redirecting our drive outcome. He identified organizations that needed coats and made it happen. Thank you to chamber member Two Men and a Truckwho donated transportation for these boxes for four straight weeks.
Prizes will be $3000, $2000 and $1000 dollars making it a popular annual event!
The committee is busy getting all the plans and details done so that we can commence selling tickets on January 14, 2023.
Tickets will be $50.00 each.
Each Rotarian will be responsible for the sale (or purchase) of three tickets for $150.

TAKE A GAMBLE...
At our Rotary meeting on 1/10/ 23 Gary Moriello will distribute to each nonexempt member five raffle tickets for our raffle that will take place at our weekly meeting at The Hilton on 3/14/23.
If more tickets are needed by any member, Gary will make them available. The tickets are $50.00 each. Each member will be responsible for the sale or purchase of three tickets. Tickets will also be available online for purchase.
All cash and checks members receive for sales should be given to Debbie Madeley. She will keep track of sales.
Beverly has the squares ready for our Super Bowl Pool. Bring CASH!!
Squares can be purchased from Beverly beginning with our 1/10/23 meeting for a price of $10.00 per square. It might be difficult to make change for these purchases so it would be appreciated if the payment for squares could be made with even money when possible.
There will be a $100.00 winner announced after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters and the winner of the 4th quarter will get $200.00.

JANUARY IS VOCATIONAL SERVICE MONTH
Founded as a business networking organization, Rotary encourages and fosters high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
In District 6440 Rotarians uphold this commitment by guiding and training others to find gainful, fulfilling employment. We work with people in our communities to help prepare for their future through mentoring programs, job fairs, and especially through our vocational scholarship program.
The application form for 2023 Career and Technical Education/Vocational Scholarships can be downloaded from this page.
Applications must be submitted directly to, screened and sponsored by a District 6440 Rotary Club and forwarded (by the sponsoring club) to the Rotary District 6440 Vocational Scholarship Committee by March 25, 2023.
Final interviews are planned for late March or early April. Selections will be announced no later than April 22, 2023 and made available to the sponsoring club vocational service chair and published on the District website.
