The Iron Lung was displayed on Sunday, October 1st at Shermerfest in Northbrook, Illinois' Village Park.
It was just 35 years ago that polio paralyzed 350k children annually. We can’t let the past become our present or future. Together we can #EndPolio, but we need your support this #WorldPolioDay: endpol.io/give Chloe -Northbrook's comfort dog did where a ducky collar!
Thanks to everyone who came out to Shermerfest for the Ducky race. First place duck belonged to Jeff Glass for $1,000.2nd place duck to Christina Rose and 3rd place duck to Jim Karignas. Sorry to report the winning duck number didn't match the secret envelope so no $50k winner from insurance.
Special thanks to Northbrook Park District , Village of Northbrook, Illinois , the Northbrook Historical Society , and Providence House for all your help!!
The village Public Works Dept. had to clear a fallen tree at Race time! And thanks to our own Denis Pollina for all his work in making this fundraiser a success! More pics to come.
The NSSRA Run for All 5K is fast approaching! This is not a sanctioned 5k, it's a fun run for our families to enjoy with their loved ones. Registration just closed and we have about 25 racers signed up. This is a small but mighty group! 🙂
Date:Sunday October 8th
Volunteer timeframe: 8:30am-11:00am
Location: Glenview Park Center 2400 Chestnut, Glenview
Volunteer duties that we are looking to fill include:
Set up & take down of signs, track markers, timing system, etc.
Check in & registration
Handing out water and snacks
Motivators- placed around the course cheering on the runners
We anticipate needing between 8-12 volunteers. If we have more than 12, the more "motivators" the merrier but there won't be a lot of actual duties to fill.

We will also have wish lists available for about 130 English speaking preschoolers, and another 110 wish lists from first through sixth grade children who participate in the Study Buddies program at Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook.
DUCK PACKING...On Wednesday, 10/04/23, we will once again gather at the Park District (545 Academy Drive) to pack up our ducks and put them away. If you are available, please come and help.
