Membership is top of mind in Rotary. RI President Shekhar Mehta "urged members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own." He has also challenged Rotarians around the world to EACH bring one new member into the club. Many members are on this and Rotary is recognizing those who are making these extraordinary efforts. We can learn from them, and in fact we can reach out to ask them their tips and tricks for growing their clubs!

The Membership Society for New Member Sponsors * is a virtual gallery for those members who have sponsored 25 or more new members. Members can achieve different tiers of recognition as they continue to sponsor more members. *you might need to log on to your Rotary account
The recognition levels are:
Bronze Level: Sponsored 25-29 members
Silver Level: Sponsored 30-49 members
Gold Level: Sponsored 50-74 members
Platinum Level: Sponsored 75+ members
To be included in the Membership Society, an individual has to have sponsored 25 or more new members, and have reported those sponsorships to Rotary. New member sponsorship can only be between active members in the same club and does not include charter members of a new club.

Gary requested me to seek volunteers to assist in putting on our Rubber Ducky race set for 9/19/21. The following sets out the various jobs that need to be filled. Keeping in mind our motto of SERVICE ABOVE SELF it would be appreciated if we can count on each member to do their part in making this event a success. We understand that there will be members who physically cannot help or who are undergoing unique situations that prevent them from serving. However, all members are capable of selling tickets. You can let Gary know which tasks you would be willing to do at our 8/3 meeting or you can email him. I want to thank Gary and Ed Gordon for helping me put together this email,
1. Sort ducks at the Park District in early September. 4-5 people Bring water
2. Set up and tear down. Get canopy, waders et cetera from the Park District and return same. 3 people for set up and 3 for tear down,
3. Duck outfit [Suzi volunteered to do this].
4. Carry duck boxes from storage area at the venue to front end loader. One person will need to accompany the ducks to the river. 4 people- this is somewhat physical
5. Stand along riverbank to keep people safe and discourage tampering. 2 people
6. An announcer. Rumor has it that Scott Rose is great at this. 1 person
7. People in the water to catch the winning ducks. 3 people
8. People on the riverbank to record the winners. 2 people
9. People down river to catch all ducks, crate them and bring to river bank. 3 people- physical
10. People on riverbank to take crates of ducks to Park District truck. 3 people- physical
11. Someone to verify that Park District will deliver ducks, provide front end loader, place net in water, provide leaf blower and provide plastic crates. 1 person
12. Ticket sellers at the event. 2 people
13. Post cash and check sales to Rally Up. I believe Sandy has volunteered to do this.
14. Pack ducks at the Park District after the event. 4-5 people
As an attorney, I have done extensive research to determine whether it is against the law to volunteer for more than one task, and I am happy to report that no one will go to jail for doing this. Call me to sign up, Denis 847-498-5420

Duck Race on Sunday, September 19 in conjunction with Shermerfest.
The board has voted to require each active member to sell or buy at least $100 of tickets.
Service volunteers needed at retail businesses to sell Ducky tickets at stores.
Also, one of my goals as President this year is to ensure that our club maintains a respectful and inclusive environment for all our members.
Accordingly, I am requesting that each active member watch the below harassment training video that was provided as part of District 6440 training late last year.
I found the training very informative and I hope you do as well. It is about 47 minutes long. I would really appreciate everyone's cooperation.

Donate a band or orchestra instrument and you will receive two free tickets to an NSO concert and a donation receipt.
The NSO thanks all who have participated in the instrument drive. Since it began two years ago 125+ instruments collected and distributed to music students in the Waukegan school district. The instrument drive is an ongoing NSO initiative in partnership with Bravo Waukegan, who refurbishes the instruments as needed and delivers them to the district.
Instruments may be dropped off at the Northbrook Symphony Office, 899 Skokie Blvd., LL12, Northbrook. Please call 847-272-0755 first.
