This past Tuesday our club was excited to recognize the efforts of Jimi Yamakawa and Jackson Tennyson, two boys wanted to help the people of the Ukraine and met with their school principal and parent groups to organize a fundraiser.
They ran a lemonade stand and raised over $400!

Highland Park Community Foundation announces the formation of a July 4th Shooting Response Fund.
All donations will go directly to victims, survivors and local organizations that support them.
On July 19, 2022, Shiva Mohsenzadeh, Northfield Township Supervisor will be speaking and offering an Overview of Northfield Township Services.
The First Bank of Chicago and Northbrook Chamber of Commerce will have Interns attending this meeting! We are excited to introduce Rotary to our up and coming leaders especially with this impressive speaker!
Shiva was elected as the Northfield Township Supervisor in April 2021, and prior to that served as a Northfield Township Trustee. Her presentation will focus on Northfield Township services, including the food pantry, as well as a bit of history on the township and its current initiatives.
Shiva was also the Chief of Staff to State Senator Laura Fine. Prior to working for Sen. Fine, Shiva worked for former state senators Jeff Schoenberg and Carol Ronen as their chiefs of staff until their retirements from public office. Before working in government, Shiva specialized in Corporate and Securities law advising fortune 500 companies in transactional law for Baker McKenzie LLP.
Shiva's passions are to promote policies that restore the middle class and decrease income inequality, and to reform the criminal justice system. Shiva is a 2014 graduate of Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership (IWIL), a 2017 graduate of Edgar Fellows, a 2018 graduate of Leadership Glenview and a 2019 graduate of Leadership Evanston.
She is active in the local community; is a member of the League of Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe; serves on the Glenview District 34 PTA Council and was a former Chair of the Glenview Education Foundation.
Shiva moved to the U.S. from Iran in 1989 as a high school student. She received her baccalaureate degree in History from the University of Texas in Austin and her law degree from the University of Houston. She resides in Glenview, with her husband and two sons.
Our club will be “exhibiting” at the upcoming Multi-Chamber Business Expo. This is a great opportunity to meet people who might be good additions to the club for membership, volunteering or sponsorship!

Our club members, as members of the chamber, may attend the show for free, their non-member guests are $20. Pre-registration is required. Because our entire club is not in the chamber database – email kathi@northbrookchamber.org to sign up for a comp ticket before July 21st. Guests can sign up and pay on the chamber website.
The admission includes a drink ticket and small bites. Club members walking the show will meet and network with other chamber businesses.

International Day of Friendship is a day to appreciate and promote friendships from all backgrounds. The day is celebrated across the globe on July 30, 2022 and aims to bridge the gap between factors such as race, language and culture.
Authentic World Harmony is the need of the hour, so Who's In Charge to Lead Others to an Authentic World Harmony? Can we unify to sing to a new melody of Hope and Happiness? On International Friendship Day, let us come together to value our natural creative power.

Our world faces many challenges, crises and forces of division — such as poverty, violence, and human rights abuses — among many others — that undermine peace, security, development and social harmony among the world's peoples.
To confront those crises and challenges, their root causes must be addressed by promoting and defending a shared spirit of human solidarity that takes many forms — the simplest of which is friendship.
Through friendship — by accumulating bonds of camaraderie and developing strong ties of trust — we can contribute to the fundamental shifts that are urgently needed to achieve lasting stability, weave a safety net that will protect us all, and generate passion for a better world where all are united for the greater good.
Background
The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
The resolution places emphasis on involving young people, as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promote international understanding and respect for diversity.
To mark the International Day of Friendship the UN encourages governments, international organizations and civil society groups to hold events, activities and initiatives that contribute to the efforts of the international community towards promoting a dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation.
The International Day of Friendship is an initiative that follows on the proposal made by UNESCO defining the Culture of Peace as a set of values, attitudes and behaviours that reject violence and endeavour to prevent conflicts by addressing their root causes with a view to solving problems.
It was then adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1997.
