I watched it and highly recommend it!!
In fact, watch it with your children or someone who might not be aware of Polio.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards: Registration is open for our District's popular RYLA youth leadership programs. For questions or more information regarding the RYLA program, please contact Contact Sean Nelson RYLA Chair. Spring sessions are March 9-12 and April 13-16. January is a critical month to get RYLA materials to the area high schools so if your club needs help, Sean is willing to speak to/at your club and/or any high school events to help promote RYLA in January and over the next three months. This is a great program; Interact Clubs and youth you know deserve RYLA!
Anyone interested in participating in a Rotary Friendship Exchange should contact Bill Kelley, the District 6440 RFE Chair for help organizing the exchange, answering questions, and to provide any support you may want. We are also forming a RFE Task Force to help advance Friendship Exchanges in our district. Again please contact Bill Kelley if you are willing to help out with this task force. Our District 6440 hosted a great Rotary Friendship Exchange Information Session via Zoom on September 28th. Rotarians from our district have expressed interest in visiting Spain, France, Italy, Guatemala, Turkey and other fascinating destinations. Vocational Scholarships: The 2023 District 6440 Career and Technical Education Scholarship program is live. Our application and award dates have changed - so please review the material and line up your applicants early! Contact Pat Boquist with any questions.
"Membership Matters" fall training modules are live on the District website in the training portal. Pick up some great ideas and best practices for growing your club!

Each club member needs to sell $150 or more in tickets! Feel free to send links for your page to your contacts. Tickets will be $50.00 each.
Paper tickets for our Pay It Forward raffle were distributed this week to all members of Northbrook Rotary (in person if possible, otherwise by mail).
When you sell a paper ticket, please do the following:
Make sure that all of the requested information has been entered legibly
Write your name on the back of each ticket that you sell
Turn in sold tickets, with the money collected for those tickets, to Debbie Madeley at each meeting
If you have tickets and money and you just cannot get to a meeting, you can always drop them off to me at my house (4275 Lindenwood Lane, Northbrook), but call first to make sure someone is home.
If you need more paper tickets, reach out to Gary and he will make it happen.
When you solicit the sale of an on-line ticket, all this is essentially done for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to friends and relatives both near and far and give them the link to our raffle. We have already gone LIVE with RallyUp...you should all have the link.
We have posters for our raffle that are available at each meeting. Please take at least one or two and place them around town.

Beverly has the squares ready for our Super Bowl Pool. Bring CASH!!
Squares can be purchased from Beverly at our meetings for a price of $10.00 per square. It might be difficult to make change for these purchases so it would be appreciated if the payment for squares could be made with even money when possible.
There will be a $100.00 winner announced after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters and the winner of the 4th quarter will get $200.00.
JANUARY IS VOCATIONAL SERVICE MONTH
Founded as a business networking organization, Rotary encourages and fosters high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
In District 6440 Rotarians uphold this commitment by guiding and training others to find gainful, fulfilling employment. We work with people in our communities to help prepare for their future through mentoring programs, job fairs, and especially through our vocational scholarship program.
The application form for 2023 Career and Technical Education/Vocational Scholarships can be downloaded from this page.
Applications must be submitted directly to, screened and sponsored by a District 6440 Rotary Club and forwarded (by the sponsoring club) to the Rotary District 6440 Vocational Scholarship Committee by March 25, 2023.
Final interviews are planned for late March or early April. Selections will be announced no later than April 22, 2023 and made available to the sponsoring club vocational service chair and published on the District website.

As we start the second half of the 2022-23 Rotary year don't miss the opportunity to celebrate some of your accomplishments over the past year. Make sure that your club takes the time to celebrate the families you brought joy to during the holidays, the disadvantaged you brought happiness to with your grant dollars, the people in Ukraine who benefited from your contributions, the children who have coats and shoes to keep warm and the many other good things, we, as Rotarians, do every day and every year.
Remember our vision, "Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves."
But we still have more to do. To continue all that we accomplish every year, we need more Rotarians!
MEMBERSHIP NOTES
Our district membership numbers this year have been good and we are on track to reverse a long trend of decreasing membership.
Now is not the time to let up. Keep looking for those people like you, people who want to make the world a better place, people who are willing to give up some of their time for someone else. If you haven't already, please make it your club’s goal to increase membership this year! And if this is already your goal, please recommit.
The Governor Line will soon become stronger with a fully trained District Governor in waiting. DGE Mary Bak is completing her final phase of DG training as I write this 411.
INCLUSIVITY
We have two important things affecting membership we want to accomplish before the end of the year. First, we will introduce a Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Perspective that will be understandable by most of our district. Second, we will introduce an empowering Women and Girls Initiative.
On a closing note, Betsy and I had the opportunity to attend the Executive Committee Meeting of the New Northwestern University Roteract Club last evening. I presented President Aimee Resnick with their official charter signed by RI President Jennifer Jones. The club approved their bylaws, constitution and began planning for the coming year. The inspiring world of Rotary awaits them.
And don't forget, the sun will shine again, in fact, it is shining right now!
