Yesterday's blood drive at Sunset Foods was a true success, as SIXTEEN UNITS OF BLOOD were collected during our four hour drive. That is one unit every 15 minutes! I asked a couple of people how they heard about the event. One said the Northbrook Village emailed newsletter (thank you, Village Communications staffers: Nicolas & Inana, for publicizing this event for two straight weeks), and the other from one of our posters. A special thanks go out to all of the Northbrook Rotarians who volunteered at the event, or donated blood at the event, or, in several instances, did both: Ron Bernardi, John and Sandy Chambers, Irwin Friedman, Donna Lee Gulley, Jodi Joffee (and friend), Dave Masters, Denis Polina and Rick Rivkin! Thanks are also due to Dago Aguirre, Manager of Sunset Foods Northbrook, and Karen Murphy and all of her Vitalant colleagues, for a quick pivot to a different location within Sunset when the elevator was not available to bring the Vitalant equipment up to the mezzanine level. Thank you Culver's for the pints! This was a great example of community service at it's finest.
