| TUESDAY, 10/14/25...We are doing a Noggin Builders project at 5:30 PM at the Acorn Grill, just before our evening meeting and dinner. If you wish to come, please get in touch with Pete S. right away if you plan to stay for dinner. (You may, if you wish, just come and help with the project, and then leave, but what fun is that!) SUNDAY, 10/19/25...This is Trunk or Treat day at the North Suburban YMCA. The event runs from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and we could use a few more volunteers to help with the games. We already have two cars that will be gaily decorated and full of treats for the hundreds and hundreds of children who are expected to attend the event. Already signed up are Gary, Bev, Jodi, Irwin and Denis. WEDNESDAY, 10/22/25...We will be providing dinner for the children participating in the Study Buddies program at Youth Services Glenview/Northbrook. Hours are 5:30 - 7:15 PM. We already have seven volunteers: Gary, Bev, Pete, Marilena, Debbie, Dave M., and Alisa. If one more wanted to join us, that would be great. SATURDAY, 11/01/25...This is the kickoff for our annual Coat Off Your Back drive, done in unison with Deerfield Rotary and the two Glenview Rotary clubs. What we need are volunteers (10 to 12) to go to one or two locations once a week (usually on a Thursday afternoon) during the drive, pick up the donated coats, and take them to a drop off location in Deerfield. We also need volunteers (as many as possible) to help sort those coats, which is usually on a Saturday morning. SATURDAY, 11/08/25...This is FEED 6, an organization that our club has been supporting for many years. We need 26 volunteers to man two tables and pack literally hundreds of meals, which will later be distributed to people in need. Right now we only have FIVE signed up (Gary, Bev, Sandra W., Dave M. and Donna). The time is 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, the location is the Skyline Room on the Allstate Arena Campus, 6920 Mannheim Rd., Rosemont, IL Obviously, we need quite a few of you to step up. This is a great opportunity to share what we do with friends and relatives. PLEASER let me hear from you soon. FRIDAY, 11/21/25...This is Illuminate Northbrook, where we serve hot chocolate to hundreds of attendees, give out innumerable bags of popcorn, and, at the same time, collect a couple hundred warm coats being donated to our Coat Off Your Back drive. We do this in unison with the Village of Northbrook. We set up between 5:00 and 5:30, and we are usually done by 7:00 PM. |
