Networking at the Chamber of Commerce to Spread the Rotary Mission
As members of the chamber of commerce, we can attend any number of events to share Rotary with prospective members, speakers, donors, sponsors. Currently, the chamber networking events are via zoom. First Friday is the most popular networking event with about 90 attendees, and falls on the first Friday of any month except when it doesn’t such as in January.
Before the pandemic Scott Rose, and Andy Vass attended as Rotary representatives. Other chamber members, who happen to be Rotarians in our club network based on their business affiliations such as Courtney Olson. In fact, a few chamber members are also members of the Glenview and Deerfield Rotary Clubs. They cannot promote those clubs though as the clubs themselves are not members of the chamber.
Due to the holiday, the First Friday networking event is being held on January 8th jointly with the DBR (Deerfield/Bannockburn/Riverwoods) Chamber. These are business networking events, with a structured format and program. Introductions are limited to the member’s organization or business. This may be about 110 people attending.
Additionally, there are smaller groups of 20 or less for Monday Roundtables or bi-monthly Women In Business (women only), which we are welcomed to attend.
We have many Rotary members, who are also chamber members, and you may want to reach out and get a heads up on the programs they find valuable. Factoids: TotalLink2; Glenkirk; Illinois Holocaust Museum; North Suburban YMCA; Northfield Township Food Pantry; Hunger Resource Network; Northbrook Library, among other non-profits are chamber members.
