An Introduction to Reading Power and Its Mission

​Reading Power This organization reaches out to Northern Illinois students in need of tutoring both with professional and volunteer effort.  During the presentation, Liz will share the following:

• Over the past 20 years, Reading Power has tutored one-to-one 4,900 students.
• Reading Power is led by reading professionals and powered by trained volunteers.
• Reading Power tutors during the school day in under-resourced schools and targets students below the 25th percentile. 
• This year, Reading Power’s 300 volunteers will tutor 600 students.
• Reading Power is in ten schools in 5 districts in Lake and Cook County.

They are looking for more volunteers to join us and for additional resources to help us reach more students

About Lisa

A valued and trusted leader with 25 years of educational experience, Lisa has been instrumental in Reading Power's tremendous success since joining the organization in 2017. Under her guidance, student achievement has increased despite many challenges. Reading Power has expanded programs, enhanced tutor recruitment, and increased donor engagement.
