On February 28th, Carol Wells, District 6440 End Polio Now Chair, presented on Rotary's campaign to eradicate the disease. Carol speaks from experience: she has traveled to Nigeria to participate in a National Immunization Day, and attended the Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) training conducted at the Center for Disease Control last June. Carol explained the vectors of the disease, the vaccines available, the funding required, and the evolving strategy to make Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria polio-free. Beginning in 1979, Rotary's efforts have helped reduce cases of polio worldwide by 99.9 percent. We're at just three year to date. Great presentation, Carol.
