On Saturday, October 21st, The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods helped distribute warm winter coats, hats and gloves to local area children in need.  The Club was a major donor to this effort coordinated by The Chapel in Lake Zurich.  This is the fifth year the church has held the event.  This is the first year the Club has participated with the event at The Chapel.  They used to hold their own coat distribution event at local grade schools for many years.  Club members helping with the event this morning included Jim Dopler, Lyle Staab, Greg Cardelli, Linh Bailey, and Kathy Minsk.  Overall, the event distributed nearly 2,000 coats this year.  Nearly 800 coats were distributed to groups in advance, and the remainder at this morning event at the church.  Over 70 volunteers from the church, the Rotary Club and the broader community were involved to make this event a success.  The Rotary Club of Wauconda was also a major sponsor this year.
