Medical/Dental Mission in Castillejos, Zambales
A Dental/Medical Mission was conducted on September 5, 2010
REQUESTED BY : SAN NICHOLAS DE TOLENTINO PARISH,
NO. OF ROTARIANS INVOLVED : Medical doctors - 1 (RCS Member)
Dentists - 2 (RCS Members)
Pharmacist - 1 (RCS Member)
Assistants - 15 (RCS Members)
OTHER VOLUNTEERS : Medical doctors - 2 (from Olongapo City Medical Society)
Dentists - 3 (Private practitioners in nearby towns)
Assistants - 8 (Rotaractors of Subic)
MATERIALS & SUPPLIES NEEDED :
For Dental Care - Anesthesia, needles/syringes, surgical gloves, face masks,
bottled water, and several boxes of various medicines. Dentists brought their own instruments and paraphernalias.
For Medical Care - Antibiotics, vitamins, and several boxes of other medicines. Doctors to brought their own instruments such as stethoscope.
Others - Tents, tables, and chairs were set up beforehand, in coordination with concerned community leaders. Some Rotarians and also the Community leaders provided their foods for lunch, including those for the other volunteers. The appropriate streamer was prepared by the club.
TYPES OF ILLNESS OR HEALTH CONDITION TREATED :
Dental Care - Mostly tooth aches or decays - for extraction or removal.
Medical Care - Mostly treatment of common colds, coughs, fever, hypertensions,
skin diseases, eye/ear/nose/throat problems, etc.
ACTUAL NO. OF PATIENTS : Dental Care - 63 patients, 8 - 64 yrs old
Medical Care - 134 patients, 1 - 83 yrs old
