International Projects in the Dominican Republic
July 2011 - Contributions are being sought to fund the establishment of two computer labs in the Dominican Republic. The project needs between US$5,000 and US$6,000 seed money to be able to apply for a Matching Grant of up to US$25,000.
The computer labs are planned to be installed at the Escuela Agustin Fernandez Perez in the city of Pimentel and the Escuela Teolinda Chupani in the village of Sabana Grande; both schools are located in the province of Duarte.
Escuela Agustín Fernández Pérez serves over 1000 K-8 students, with 54 teachers and a staff of 25 employees in a community of over 5,000 members.
Escuela Teolinda Chupani is located in the rural area serving around 400 K-12 students, their teachers, staff and community members.
The project will be managed locally by members of the Club Rotario Pimentel in District 4060; a Rotary Club with whom the Lincolnshire Morning Star Rotary Club in Illinois partnered in 2010 to equip and organize a school library in Sabana Grande.
