R. Srikanth exchanged banners with our club and also gave a short presentation about his club and their many excellent projects.  Very impressive for a club that is only 11 years old!

Induction of a New Member: Erica Mbangamoh
 
The Meeting began with the induction of Erica Mbangamoh.  Brian King is her sponsor. 
 
 
Speaker: Andy Vick
Our Speaker was Andy Vick, Executive Director of Downtown Evanston.  Downtown Evanston is a Special Service Area.  It is funded by special tax assessments on business properties in the area. They work with the landscaping crew to keep the streetscape looking good. 
 
Downtown Evanston promotes the downtown area through a variety of activities in partnership with local businesses. Events include Evanston en Blanc, historic walking tours, concerts, Cars and Coffee, Evanston Rides, The Farmer's Market and more. 
 
Although Downtown Evanston is still struggling post pandemic with the reduction in daytime office workers, there are signs that evening entertainment options will increase with the opening of Northlight Theater this past week, the Local Note Jazz Club over the summer and the current renovation work on the movie theaters. 
 
Pam Rosenbusch raised money for the Charitable Fund with trivia about the new Northwestern University Football Stadium.

Save Friday, Sept. 25 for a Rotary Social Outing on Central
The club’s next social outing will be Friday, September 25. We will gather for drinks and/or dinner at DeSalvo’s Pizza, 1945 Central Street starting at 5:30 pm, followed by Paul Larson’s “There’s a Higher Power” musical tribute show at the American Legion Hall at 7:30 pm. All proceeds from the tickets that you purchase ($25 each) will be donated to either the Rotary Foundation or our club’s Charitable Fund (your choice) – including tickets purchased by or for your friends and family. To reserve spaces at the show, please visit www.louvinshow.com. You may attend the dinner without going to the show, or go to the show without attending the dinner – whatever works best for you!   • Words of inspiration from District officials, Dr. Carol Pandak (Rotary staff), and Blane Foundation representatives
