Rotopep Vol. 107 No. 18

Rotary Club of Evanston

October 29, 2026

No meeting this week, but Club Social. Please see below.

Please note:

  • Based on member feedback, we're adjusting the cadence of club meetings in November and December
    • We'll meet the 1st and 2nd Thursday in both November and December
  • November's Club Assembly has been slid to 12 November
    • Focus will be further discussion of Club's "signature focus"
    • Allows for 5 November's program to feature details from City of Evanston's "Process for Local Assessment of Needs" (EPLAN) - particularly food security issues

(Special Note:  We will publish the Zoom link in every Rotopep, even when there will not be a meeting.  That should make it easier to find when members are looking for our Zoom link. Please try to remember that a Zoom Link will not automatically mean that there is a meeting that week).

Meeting Location or Virtual Login details:

This will be the same meeting login for all club meetings every week including happy hour and fireside chat.

Minutes from RCE Meeting October 22, 2026

In terms of visitors and guests, we had returning member Dick Peach who also acted as sergeant of arms.  His questions for the group were all about the State of Minnesota

We had a guest, Ally Levinsky, who is doing some consulting work for Rotary International but wanted to learn more about an individual club.

Tracy Tebear provided the day's inspiration.   It related to Franklin Roosevelt who developed Polio in 1921.  He went from initial symptoms to complete paralysis in just 3 days.  Despite his disability, he always spoke with optimism and hope and was able to ascend to the presidency of the United States.  One of his favorite phrases was "Calm Seas never Made a Good Sailor."

Tracy Tebear was recognized by Mark Lowry as a Paul Harris Fellow + 5 for her generous support of Rotary.

For the months of November and December, the club will change its meeting frequency and meet on the first and second Thursday's of each month.  More specifically, we will meet on 11/5 and 11/12 and 12/3 (Holiday Party) and 12/10.

Finally, the World Wide Polio Walk was scheduled for Saturday 10/24 from 9-11am.

At conclusion of the normal program, the group assembled 25 lunches for Hilda's Place in connection with the club's mission to address food insecurity in the community.
