Announcements:  Each week there will be rotating assignments for inspiration, sergeant at arms, scribe and greeters.  Assignments can be found at the bottom Rotopep in club runner.
 
Streets Alive is on September 13th this year and we will be participating again with a booth.  Stephanie Murray is serving as the Chair for this event and is working on forming a committee.  Several people volunteered including Jane Lawicki, Fionah Mensah, Rev. Michael Nabors and Diane Claussen.

Orchids and Onions:
Bridget McDonough had an orchid to celebrate Nigeria being two weeks away from eradicating polio!  Diane Krier-Morrow had an orchid: she is going to be a Grandmother on Jan. 16thJohn Robertson had an orchid for his 2 week trip to Florence, Italy.  Paul Fischl shared that he was happy that his son had been deployed to Lithuania and was going to the Greek Isles in two weeks.  Rev. Michael Nabors had an orchid to commemorate the $1300 raised for the Mother Emanuel Charitable Fund in Charleston, SC.  Michele Berg had an orchid for a successful convention and also for her 2 week trip to Italy and one for a successful 4th of July parade!  Dave Stumpf had an orchid to thank folks for participating in the 4th of July parade and the Race against Hate.  He also had a plug for the “Great Lake Plunge” event on 22 August.   Kat Eiff had an orchid for her Father turning 75 and her success at the Foundation Square Art Fair.  Paul Larson had an orchid his band is playing at Central Street sidewalk sale this weekend from 2 to 4 in Independence Park.  Dick Peach – his son got three days off from chemo therapy this week; he is heading to MN in a week and a half.  Gene Servillo had an orchid for peace and quiet for Dick’s coworker Bill while Dick is gone.
This Week’s Program: 
First official meeting with Wally Bobkiewicz as Club President; Happy New Rotary Year!  Two videos were shown highlighting the So Paulo International Convention in June.  The first video was an overview of the many convention plenaries and events.  The second video was a moving address by President Ravi Ravindran in which he talked about his experiences in Rotary and his plans for the year.  He highlighted a new member benefits program called Rotary Global Rewards that Rotarians can sign up for at rotary.org.
