Providence Rubingisa, a Rwandan genocide survivor, founded Stuff for the Poor to help those still fighting poverty in Africa. Stuff for the Poor has found a unique business model for their ministry. They collect used shoes and sell them at a very low cost to entrepreneurs in Africa. The money is used to support educational efforts, and the shoes provide an important stimulus to the local economy.

The Rotary Club of Elk Grove collected several hundred pairs of shoes and made a $500 contribution.
