Thanks to Rotary Clubs Worldwide…ShelterBox Saves Lives
Imagine working all your life in harsh circumstances to support your extended family—children, grandᆳparents, siblings—and losing everything due to a natural disaster. Imagine staring into the rubble that was once your home, and having no protection from the sun, rain or wind, no tools to rebuild and no access to clean water.
Now imagine
ONERotary club, reaching acrossthe miles to offer your family protection, dignity andhope.ShelterBox
, created by a Rotarian, is thelargest Rotary project in the 100+ year history ofthe organization. Our survival kit in a box enablesa family that has lost everything to subsist for up toone year with a roof overhead, warmth andprotection, drinkable water, a simple kitchen withheat for cooking and essential tools to beginrestoring their lives. We are able to hand deliver and help assemblethese temporary homes to remote villages or todevastated cities, often amid chaos and damagedtransportation and communication networks. In
many cases, Rotarians in the affected countriesare our first point of contact and help our Reᆳᆳ
Boxes into the field as quickly as possible and into
the hands of those who need them.

eachyearProject
Since its inception in 2000, ShelterBox has aided more than one million survivors in over 70 countries. As
ShelterBox can never predict when or where disaster will strike, we have deployed pre-packed boxes in strategic locations aroundthe globe, and we keep a large stock of equipment in our warehouse in the United Kingdom. We track each box so that our donors can follow exactly when and where their contributions are spent.
The
ShelterBox kit is unique and does not duplicate aid provided by other disaster relief organizations. We often partner with established relief entities to provide enhanced services.ShelterBox USA
was started in 2002 by the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Since then, the USA affiliate has received support from thousands of Rotary clubs in the United States.WHAT’S IN A BOX
