General Superintendent of the Cook County Forest Preserve Arnold Randall was kind enough to join the club for lunch and speak about the Forest Preserve.  Cook County Forest Preserve was established in 1915 and consists of 69,000 acres. The Forest Preserve's mission is to acquire, restore, and manage lands for the purpose of protecting and preserving open space with its natural wonders and allow the property to be used for education and recreation now and in the future.  The preserve has many uses like fishing, walking, running, biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and even several places for Camping.  There are some incredible species in the preserve as well including Bald Eagles, Black Crowned Night Herons, and the River Otter.  Busse Woods is adjacent to Elk Grove Village and consists of 3500 acres and has a bike path over 11 miles long.
