Rotary honors six women for leadership and humanitarian service
Rotary President K.R. Ravindran has named six Rotary Global Women of Action for 2015. The honorees were chosen for their dedication and service, which has improved the lives of thousands around the world. “Every day at Rotary I see firsthand how our members work to change lives and make a significant impact,” said Ravindran. “Rotary’s Global Women of Action embody Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self.” The women will be honored at Rotary Day at the United Nations in New York City on 7 November. Showcase your project at the Seoul convention
Apply to host a booth in the House of Friendship at the 2016 Rotary International Convention in Seoul, 28 May-1 June. This is an opportunity to showcase your club or district project, recruit members for your Rotary Fellowship, share information about your Rotarian Action Group, or market Rotary merchandise if you are a licensed RI vendor. Bringing education to rural Mexican area, one school at a time
When Mariana Day moved in 1989 to the small beach town of Chacala, in Nayarit, Mexico, she noticed that the surrounding rural areas struggled to maintain schools. And most children weren’t able to go beyond an eighth-grade education. Day, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Bahía de Jaltemba-La Peñita, in Nayarit, had started a local scholarship program before she joined Rotary. Called Changing Lives, the program provided students with high school tuition, uniforms, school supplies, and transportation. Farwell Dear Jack ...

Sadly, the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove has lost it's last charter member, Jack Renskers. On Saturday, December 12th, Jack went into cardiac arrest and was later removed from life support. All those who knew Jack feel a tremendous loss. He exemplified what it means to be "A Rotarian" and not just "in Rotary". It is apparent that "The Four Way Test" and "Spirit of Rotary" were foremost in his decisions and actions.

When our club was chartered back on January 21, 1970, Jack was a part of the founding membership and remained an Active Member in Rotary long into his retirement. Even as his health began to fail, he would try to make as many of our social events as possible. A special thank you goes out to his friend, Cindy Williams, for helping him to stay connected and keeping us informed of his status.

More information regarding his memorial service and donation designation will be forthcoming as it is made available to us.

Club Assembly

Today's program was Club Assembly. The following items were discussed:

Vision Planning Session - Jack reported that the Vision Planning Session for the club will be held on Monday, February 1st at the Township office. See article in this bulletin for more information.
Winter Market - Dave reported that he will have the signage up on Friday evening. He is still looking for additional vendors.
Membership - Jack is working on a Membership program. The ideal is to invite a individuals to a special meeting to be held in the February time period, at which there will be a featured speaker.
Financial Review - Steve reported that Alan is working on getting a CPA to conduct a financial review of the club's Charitable Fund.
Raffle - This year's raffle will be held on March 16 at Galati's. See article in this bulletin

Annual Christmas Party - December 10, 2015

This year's annual Christmas Party was held on at the The Onion Pub and Brewery in Lake Barrington. Several of our members and their spouses were present at the event and enjoyed the festivities of the evening.

Century Raffle

This year's reverse raffle will be held at Galati's on March 16, 2016. Tickets for this event should be available sometime in December. The focus for club membership this year is to sell their tickets and also get people to attend the event. While the money received from ticket sales represents the major portion of revenue for this event, the side raffles have potential for making this event even more successful. More details to follow, but for now, start lining up your attendees.

Club Vision Planning Session

The Club will be working with District 6440 to update the Strategic Plan that it developed in 2007. The planning session will be held at the Algonquin Township Offices on February 1, 2016, beginning at 5:00 PM. All Club Members are encouraged to attend this session. Recommendations adopted at that session will be the foundation for future club endeavors. Please plan on attending this very important meeting. Farmers' Winter Market

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove will be conducting a Winter Farmer's Market beginning Sunday, October 4th. The event will be held in-doors at the Algonquin Township offices located at 3702 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake Illinois. The market will be located in building #6 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 01:00 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month.

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove’s membership is a diverse group of individuals that work together to improve the communities of Cary and Fox River Grove. If you are interested in learning more, or in getting involved, come as our guest to one of our morning meetings. We meet on Thursdays beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Cary Park District located at 255 Briargate Road, Cary Illinois. Visitors are always welcome.

Rotary Code of Conduct

As Rotarians, we end each of our weekly meetings by reciting The Four-Way Test. Building on the principles outlined in that document, we should also pay attention to the phrases outlined in the Rotary Code of Conduct:

As a Rotarian, I will

Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviors and activities
Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary
Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others
Be fair in all dealings with others and threat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings
Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society
Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the qualify of life in my community
Honor the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavor or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians
Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship
