Today's Winner
Winner of today's newly-building pot was Linda, but she did not draw the black tee.  Side-bet winnings were donated back to the Paul Harris Fellow Annual Fund.
Today's Program
Today's guest speaker was Lyle Staab, District Governor Nominee Designate and District Youth Service Advisor. Lyle is with the Rotary Club of Long Grove-Kildeer-Hawthorn Woods. He spoke about Rotary programs available for our youth, Interact, Rotaract, RYLA and Youth Exchange.

He thanked our club for sponsoring the Interact at Cary-Grove High School, and presented President, Pat Finlon with a banner for us to present to them.  In addition, he acknowledged our continued support of the RYLA program.  Of course a major focus for all Rotarians is Rotary's new Youth Protection Program which was covered at last week's meeting. An important upcoming event is Youth Assembly and Training Session at Harper College on November 10, 2018.

Joke of the Week
One Sunday morning a priest decides to sneak off to play golf. He leaves a note on the church door saying he's too ill to read the Sunday sermon, then sneaks off to the golf course. God and Saint Peter are watching this from above. "I hope you're going to punish that man," says Saint Peter.

"Watch this," says God. The priest tees off and his ball ricochets off three trees, skips across a pond, bounces off a boulder, loops the loop, and drops neatly into the hole. "I thought you were going to punish him?" says Saint Peter. "I have," says God. "Who's he going to tell?"

Rotary Action & Fellowship Groups
One of President Steve's goals this year is to have at least one member join a Rotary Action Group or Rotary Fellowship Group.  As stated on RI's website, a Rotarian Action Group is an autonomous group of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who are experts in a particular field, such as micro-credit or water and sanitation. More information about these groups and their purpose can be found on RI's website.

Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends from around the world.  Again, more detailed information is available at this link to RI's website.

If you haven't all ready done so, take the time to click on the two links above and see if there may be a group that fits with your interests.  It's a great way to make new friends and to share common interests with Rotarians from around the world.
