I hear a lot of speakers at Rotary meetings.  None in recent memory was as riveting – or as disturbing – as Sam Wijeyakumar of Rahab’s Daughters, who spoke to my Rotary club Wednesday night.  Starting with her own experience, she shared stories and statistics of sex and labor trafficking all around us – including the suburban communities of Lake County.
The video (click here) is about an hour long.  Those of us who heard Sam believe you’ll find it worth your time.
You’ll hear how Rahab’s Daughters is scaling up to provide both on-the-ground intervention and hot lines for those being trafficked at next month’s NFL Championship game in Los Angeles.   From February 3rd to 13th, from 5PM to 2AM Central Time, their volunteers will answer calls from those at risk.  In fact, they are in desperate need of people to work those phone lines at their offices in Barrington.  If after watching the video, you’d like to volunteer, even for a few hours, contact Rahab’s Daughters at  1-833-4NEW DAY.
Their website is https://www.rahabsdaughters.org/, and a copy of their brochure is attached.
May God Bless those, like Rahab’s Daughters, that are determined to Make A Difference.
