Illinois Fire Safety Alliance
Jim Kreher, Deputy Fire Chief for Fox River Grove, and Jim Saletta, Retired Fire Chief from Huntley, were the guest speakers at today's meeting of the Rotary Club of Cary Grove. The topic for their presentation was Fire Safety and Burn Prevention.
More specifically, the program discussed the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance's burn camp "I Am Me". This camp is a one-week program for children that are burn survivors. This special program helps these children build self-esteem while learning to deal with the trauma they often suffer. Being able to spend time and make friends with others that have been burned is very beneficial for the campers.
This year's event was held at the YMCA Camp Duncan facility located in Ingleside. The program is supported by contributions from numerous business and individuals. To learn more about the programs offered through IFSA, visit their website at www.ifsa.org.
