District Governor, Sarah Oliver Visits
Last night, the club's board and committee chairs had the pleasure of meeting with District Governor Sarah at 1776 Restaurant. In addition to enjoying an excellent dinner and fellowship, the evening was spent with individual members sharing their past Rotary history and current roles within the club.
At today's meeting with the entire club membership, DG Sarah shared the importance of how individual members and clubs are the key to the success of all the good that Rotary can do. She also explained how this year's theme "Engage Rotary - Change Lives" fits so well with what District 6440 has been trying to do for the past few years.
In the past, we've been trying to give individuals who ask about Rotary, an overview of all that we do. She suggested that our initial response to someone who asks about Rotary should be just one thing that we do in Rotary that really excites us. Explain why Rotary is so personal to us as individuals and be enthusiastic about it. It might be "Ending Polio", a community project such as a food drive, a closer relationship with a New Generations project. No matter what it is, be excited about it.
Governor Sarah also complimented the club for its many accomplishments. Being a small club has not seemed to get in the way of getting things done.
