Disaster Response Team

Eddy Weiss was the guest speaker at The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove this morning. Eddy is the Director of Education for the "Chasing4Life" Response Team, and he began his talk by informing the club's membership of his department's model, "With more education, we will need less response!"
Eddy knew at the age of eleven what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to save people. The son of a firefighter, Eddy had first-hand experience of what it felt like to witness the loss associated with man-made and natural disasters. He founded Chasing4Life, Disaster Response and Preparedness Education so that he could help change the world by educating people about being prepared for disaster.
Eddy began his career as a volunteer firefighter in a small town in Wisconsin. He soon learned that a big part of his job was involved in storm detection. In that role, his interest in weather phenomenon grew and he is now recognized as one of the best disaster preparedness educators in the country. He is now focused on changing the way the general population looks at preparing for weather events and is engaged in providing educational programs to civic groups, churches, schools and media in an attempt to "change the world".
